Language Insights
Hay tells what exists; está tells where it is
- Hay un documento. means a document exists or is available.
- El documento está aquí. tells the location of that known document.
- Hay does not change for one or many things: Hay un documento and Hay documentos.
- No hay nada literally uses two negative words, but it naturally means “There is nothing.”
- The cognate pattern -ist → -ista helps with tourist → turista and artist → artista.
Module Challenge
Interpret without using Hint
1. Is there an important document here?
