Meaning first

This module does not add a new tense pattern. It asks you to choose among patterns you already know from the meaning you want.

What you are learning

Routine, action in progress, plans/future, completed events, and past background must stay distinct even when the action word stays the same.

English comparison

English “-ing” is broader than the Spanish current-action pattern. A future plan can use a present-looking English form while Spanish selects a future pattern.

Lesson 1 — Routine + Current + Plans

I can talk about my normal routine, current situation, and plans in one conversation.

Trabajo todos los días.

I work every day.

Estoy trabajando.

I am working.

Mañana voy a trabajar.

Tomorrow I am going to work.

Hablaré.

I will speak.

Lesson 2 — Event + Background

I can tell what happened and provide relevant background information.

Ayer trabajé.

Yesterday I worked.

Trabajaba todos los días.

I used to work every day.

Estaba estudiando cuando vino.

I was studying when he/she came.

Primero trabajé. Después estudié.

First I worked. Then I studied.

Lesson 3 — Switch Timeframes

I can move between past, present, and future reference during an everyday conversation.

Comparison focus:do not ask “Which tense did the lesson just Learn?” Ask “What time and viewpoint do I intend right now?”
